P1 to P2 Maths: what to revise before P2

The short version

Before P2, revise P1 Numbers to 100, Addition and Subtraction within 100, and Length. P2 Maths in Singapore opens Term 1 with Numbers to 1000, Addition and Subtraction within 1000, and Length, which build on them. Leave the new P2 topics to school. Term 1 starts on 4 January 2027.

Is P2 Maths harder than P1?

It covers more. P2 adds 1 topic no earlier level teaches: Fractions. Its Term 1 topics take P1 work further, so a child secure in the P1 topics above starts on firm ground.

Keep each day short, a few questions on the P1 topics above and then play. A child who finds those easy starts P2 confident, and confidence matters more at seven than racing ahead.
